Jabali transforms lives through Education, Mentorship and sport
“Jabali”, meaning ‘strong as a rock’ in Swahili, supports underprivileged and vulnerable children in Uganda through Education, Mentorship and Sports We offer continuous, holistic support, ensuring every child completes their educational journey from primary through tertiary levels, equipped with essentials like uniforms, stationery, and transport. Our commitment is to zero disruptions and zero dropouts. Our sports programs cultivate confidence, teamwork, and leadership, while our skills development and mentoring initiatives bridge educational gaps. We emphasise IT literacy, life skills, and career readiness to prepare well-rounded, capable young people for future success.
HOW JABALI STARTED
Inspired by the Founder's Journey
Two of our founders, Henry & Allan grew up in Naguru, at the time one of Kampala’s largest slums. Through their love for sport they received the support of an organisation offering school fees to talented sports persons. They excelled at school and university and upon finishing they both began working for the organisation that has supported them. At its peak, the organisation supported over 300 children.
Today, Henry, is the Uganda country Representative of Street Child, an International NGO, and Allan is the Director and Co-owner of a successful construction equipment and heavy machinery company.
EMPOWERED TO SUPPORT OTHERS
Henry and Allan also worked hard to become two of the country’s top compettive tennis players as well as playing in the top cricket league. They credit sports as fundamental to their journeys as it taught them to be disciplined and goal-oriented, support their mental and physical health, showed them the virtues of teamwork, exposed them to new ways of thinking, working and being.
Empowered by their own journey and success of so many other former members that they grew up with, Henry and Allan built Jabali Uganda to sustainably pass on their life changing support that enabled them thrive.
